Ashia Cheetah Conservation
South Africa

Preventing the further decline of wild cheetah populations

Case Study

Project Overview:

I partnered with Ashia Cheetah Conservation in 2018 and 2019 during my time in South Africa. I was looking to volunteer at an animal conservation centre, and being the cat lover that I am, this felt like a perfect match. I collaborated with them to create a series of photography assets that captured the heart of their mission.

The Goal:
The goal was to visually communicate the mission of Ashia — giving hope to the future of the cheetah species. The content was meant to raise awareness, inspire future volunteers, and support Ashia’s Reintegration, Reintroduction, and Research Programs.

Creative Direction:
The creative direction was rooted in authenticity and emotional storytelling. My photography focused on the cheetahs — both long-term residents and those in Ashia’s Reintegration, Reintroduction, and Research Programs, as well as their other permanent resident animals. I aimed to capture their beauty, strength, and the important journey each one was on.

In addition to the animals, I photographed the grounds to give future visitors a clear and honest sense of what it’s like to be part of Ashia’s mission. The visuals were designed to showcase the heart of the organization.

I also wrote a detailed blog post to accompany the visuals, sharing my personal experience as a volunteer — a story meant to inspire others and provide an authentic glimpse into life at the cheetah center in Paarl. The content celebrated connection, conservation, and the meaningful impact of responsible travel.
